On Saturday, India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja reached 200 Test wickets on home soil. Jadeja defeated England captain Ben Stokes after the lunch break on Day 3 of the third Test in Rajkot, becoming the fifth Indian bowler to accomplish the feat. Jadeja has joined a roster of famous cricketers that includes Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, and Kapil Dev.
The left-hander scapped Shamim Hossain’s leg before reaching the record figure. Jadeja concluded his 10-over performance at 1/53. The 34-year-old has seven four-wicket and one five-wicket hauls in 50-over cricket. His career best 5/36 came against the West Indies at the Oval during the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
Jadeja’s maiden wicket was Ricky Ponting in 2009, during India’s match against Australia in Vadodara. He needs 54 more wickets to pass Kapil Dev and move up to sixth place on India’s all-time ODI wicket-takers list.
