Real-life couple Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have acted in nine films together and Abhishek had earlier revealed that Aishwarya got paid more than him in eight of those nine films. At an event in 2018, Abhishek had said that both his wife, Aishwarya and mother, Jaya Bachchan, have done things on their own terms in Bollywood and have never been forced to do anything. Speaking about the pay disparity between male and female actors in the industry, Abhishek revealed that Aishwarya had been paid more than him in almost all the films they had starred together.
He also said that Deepika Padukone was the highest-paid actor in Piku and went on to say that it is all business and that one gets paid according to their crowd-pulling power. He added that a debutante actress cannot demand that she be paid the same amount as Shah Rukh Khan.
Abhishek and Aishwarya have worked together in films like Kuch Na Kaho, Guru, Raavan, Dhoom 2, Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Umrao Jaan, Sarkar Raj.
