Coronavirus is a threat to the whole world right now. While some countries are struggling more than others, we must realise that we’re all in this together. The WHO has urged people to practise social distancing and maintaining proper hygiene citing it as the best measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. With several events being postponed and called off, it seems like the coveted Cannes Film Festivals too is now a part of the list.
Rumours suggest that the event was supposed to be held from from May 12 to May 23, 2020 but now the organisers are looking for a date close to the end of June or beginning of July. Considering the delicate situation in France, postponing the event is the best move keeping in minds the health of the people. The organisers will also be undergoing consultation with the Cannes City Hall and the French Government to decide on how to go about the same.
France has been under complete lockdown since the past few weeks with over 10,000 cases of the virus. The government there is taking extreme measures to avoid any large gathering in the country and we expect the situation to remain the same until the pandemic is not brought under control.
