Karisma Kapoor shared a throwback picture from the premiere of Raj Kapoor’s Awara. The picture featured some legendary artists including, Lata Mangeshkar, Raj Kapoor, Nargis, and young Shashi Kapoor. Music composers Shankar-Jaikishan and writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas can also be seen in the picture.
Karisma captioned the picture as, “So many legends together in one frame at the premiere of dadaji’s (grandfather) Awara. Rest in Glory Lata Ji. The Nightingale of India.”
The picture was taken during the premiere of the Awara movie. The legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar stood beside legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor in the picture. The late singer can be seen smiling as she looked at the floor while the picture was being clicked. A young Shashi Kapoor also posed as he stood next to his brother Raj Kapoor and actor Nargis.
Lata Mangeshkar, who’s also the recipient of Bharat Ratna, passed away on Sunday owing to multiple organ failures at the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. She was cremated at Shivaji Park with full state honours.
Several renowned figures attended Lata’s funeral including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Anuradha Paudwal and Kailash Kher, among others.
