Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most prolific stars out there. The Badshah of Bollywood has an iconic filmography spanning decades. His journey towards global stardom is also well-known. But before he began his acting career, he did the occasional odd job. And it turns out he got his first pay cheque for working at a Pankaj Udhas concert.
Today marks the 71st birthday of renowned singer Pankaj Udhas. The musician has an unlikely connection to Shah Rukh Khan. The actor reportedly worked as an usher at one of his concerts and his salary was below Rs 100. He earned a pay cheque of Rs 50. And he used it for an Agra trip. During the promotional rounds of Raees, SRK had opened up about his first paycheque. Opening up about his travels, he had said, “I have travelled some long distances when I was younger. I did one when I got my first earnings from a Pankaj Udhas concert. I was an usher. We got Rs 50, so we went to Taj Mahal, saved money.”
Moreover, Pankaj Udhas is also credited as John Abraham’s mentor since the actor was featured in his popular song Chupke Chupke Sakhiyon Se.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to finally return to the big screen with Pathaan. The action film also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Filming for the project wrapped earlier this year and it’s scheduled to release on January 25, 2023.
