The 38-year-old billionaire’s victory stunned online users, and some well-known figures praised him.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has proven that he not only aces the tech industry but also has impressive combative skills. Zuckerberg grabbed gold and silver medals on May 6 at his first jiu-jitsu tournament and has shared six photographs of his victorious moments on Facebook and Instagram.
In the photos, Zuckerberg is seen fighting with opponents during the competition. In two of those photos, he is seen with his hand raised by a referee. Other photos show him posing with his team members and walking in the court.
“Competed in my first jiu jitsu tournament and won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team. Thanks to @davecamarillo @khaiwu @intense0ne for training me!” Zuckerberg captioned the post.
Netizens were bowled over by the 38-year-old billionaire’s win and several prominent personalities lauded him.
Martin Nguyen, an Australian mixed martial artist, commented on Facebook, “You da man brother!! Hard work always pays off.” Alexander Volkanovski, another Australian mixed martial artist, commented on Instagram, “Legend! Love the shorts mate.” Brandon Moreno, a Mexican mixed martial artist, also wrote on Instagram, “Wow congrats.”
CBS reported the Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition was held on Saturday at Woodside High School in California.
Citing an August 2022 interview with podcast host Joe Rogan, People cited Zuckerberg as saying that he had taken up mixed martial arts during the coronavirus pandemic. The martial arts gave him an energy boost at that time, he had added.
The self-defence martial art is a sport that includes grappling, ground fighting, and submission holds.
