Hyderabad, September 2, 2024: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao urgently convened an emergency review meeting in response to the deadly rains that have wreaked havoc across the state. With the monsoon turning severe, several districts, including Hyderabad, have been left grappling with widespread flooding, property damage, and a rising death toll.
The Chief Minister’s swift action comes as parts of Telangana are witnessing one of the worst downpours in recent years. Over the past few days, incessant rainfall has led to significant waterlogging, disruption of public services, and forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes. Rescue operations are in full swing, with disaster response teams working tirelessly to provide relief to the affected areas.
During the high-level meeting, CM KCR directed the state’s disaster management authorities to stay on high alert and ensure all necessary measures are in place to safeguard lives. The Telangana government has deployed additional resources, including helicopters and boats, to aid in rescue efforts. Special instructions have been issued to district collectors to expedite relief distribution and provide immediate support to those in need.
With more rainfall expected in the coming days, the Telangana government has appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and avoid non-essential travel. Helpline numbers have been activated to assist residents, and temporary shelters have been set up across the state.
As Telangana continues to battle these extreme weather conditions, CM KCR’s decisive leadership aims to mitigate further losses and bring relief to the affected population.
