The reporting of offensive group chat messages and the silencing of incoming calls from unknown numbers are features that WhatsApp developers are striving to implement.

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app is soon bound to get another useful feature. Dubbed ‘Admin review’, the upcoming feature lets users report inappropriate messages in a group chat to the admin.

According to WABetaInfo, when group members report a particular message as offensive or inappropriate, it will be forwarded to the group admins for review, who can then choose to delete the message for everyone in the group.

The new option will be available within the group settings page, meaning only group admins will be able to enable this feature. As for reported messages, they will be visible to group admins in a new section under the group info settings.

As it turns out, the developers are also working on another feature that lets users silence unknown callers. Located under the ‘Privacy’ section in WhatsApp settings, it lets users mute calls from unknown phone numbers. However, they will still be visible in the ‘Calls’ tab and notifications.

While the ability to report messages in groups is still being tested, the silence unknown callers feature is already available to beta testers on the latest version of WhatsApp, with the developers planning to roll it out to more users in the coming days.

Last week, Whatsapp brought new functionalities to the Poll feature, the ability to forward images and documents with captions, transfer chats from one iPhone to another without iCloud and more.
